Literature Text

Although Kit knew about his talent of being unlucky, he still couldn't believe his rotten luck this time.

And he thought he was done dealing with that...monster.

But here it was, standing right above him and Lune. At least perhaps this would coax his opponent into forfeiting...or something.

But of course, it was never that easy for Kit Vulpes.

"My, you do get easily distracted sometimes," Lune said as the shadow took another swing at Kit.
"Not being able to hit you gets really frustrating, you know?"
"Don't you think there's a greater problem at hand now?" Kit suggested.
Before Lune could answer, the beast from above came crashing down, crushing the concrete beneath it.
"I don't believe there is anything more important than the outcome of this fight," he said.
"Y-you're crazy!" Kit replied.
"So I've been told. But it isn't as if you people are any better."
Kit didn't have any time to think of a comeback. The monster turned on him, and he looked into its black eyes for a moment, before nearly dodging another hammer arm.
This isn't time to fight anymore! he thought to himself, I have to draw it away from this place!
Kit made a full u-turn and ran. It was out of his best intentions, of course, but Lune interpreted it another way.
"Trying to run, are you? From where I come from, using a coward's method is frowned upon."

--

Kit took a moment to catch his breath. He'd run pretty far, and he hoped he had lost his opponent. The monster, of course, was still on his tail. Now all he had to do was think of a plan.
There wasn't a single machine in sight, and he didn't think another large scale explosion would please Mr. T. Perhaps if he--
His thoughts were interrupted when he turned to see the monster face to face. He could see its facial features clearly now, not that he wanted to. The monster's sharp teeth and menacing eyes, along with it's spiky green hair--wait, spiky green hair? Kit's sudden realization caused his eyes to grow wide.
"E-Erth?!"
SMACK
The next thing he knew, Kit found himself covered in rubble. One blow from this Erth-resembling monster had sent him flying into a wall.
"I-it can't be...!"
Kit was conflicted. A few moments ago, Erth, along with Miss Advolin, had just helped him out in his previous round. How could this be the same Erth? The symbols on its arms resembled the symbol on Erth's sword. There weren't that many people with spiky green hair like his, but maybe--
"It's the same person."
Caught by surprise, Kit turned to see Lune standing right behind him.
"I thought I lost you!" he exclaimed, "and how do you know who Erth is?"
"I don't," Lune replied bluntly, "but I do know a certain green-haired boy with a mechanical arm and a mysterious sword."
"...How..?"
"As I suspected. That must be the 'Erth' you speak of."
"But how do you know that that...thing...is him?"
"In my previous fight, I sensed a deep darkness within him. A monster, waiting to be unleashed. This is probably that monster."
"Wait..."
Another thought struck Kit. Previous fight? Then that means...Erth was beaten by this guy? Erth is out of the tournament?
"Well then," Kit stood up, brushing his knees, "now that you know the true threat, why don't we, uh, work together?"

"How about no."
A strong blast of magic blasted Kit in the back, immediately knocking him into the floor. It was another one of Lune's shadows. Where do...these guys keep...coming from? Kit thought as his vision slowly went black.

"Looks like I win this round." Lune smiled his trademark smile.
"Now that that's taken care of..." he turned to face Erth, "it's time to dispose of the extras."

---

They've been gone for a while...
Meryl looked up at the glistening moon in the pitch black night sky. She had overheard a few faint explosions, and she was worried that something might have happened.
"I'd best go see for myself."

---

Lune didn't like it when his calculations were off. And in this case, he had gravely underestimated his enemy.
This 'Erth' had completely decimated a majority of his shadow-clones, all without breaking  a sweat. And the next he knew, he as lying on the floor right alongside the motionless body of Kit. He helplessly watched as Erth inched closer, with his arm raised high, ready to strike.
BOOM!
Lune looked up to see a staggering Kit Vulpes standing above him.
"Stay down," Lune hissed, "this is between him and me."
"Shut up," Kit snapped, "there's no time for that kind of crap."
"Well what do you plan to do? Whatever it is, it's suicide."
"No it's not."
"Then what is it?"
"True justice."

Lune paused for a moment, allowing Kit's words to sink in.
Kit, on the other hand, was mentally preparing himself to unleash another explosion. He didn't want to get Lune caught in it though, so he was just planning to block Erth's attack.
"It's the eyes."
"What?"
"That's his only weak point. Upon examination, this 'Erth' is impervious in all areas except for his eyes."
"Wow. You figured this out in only a few minutes of getting trashed by him? You are really smart."
"That was some backhanded complement."
Kit grinned. Maybe this guy isn't that bad... He then turned back to face the charging Erth. He concentrated his energy and aimed straight for Erth's eyes.

The last thing Lune saw before he blacked out was a brilliant flash a yellow light. The light had a warm glow to it, something he's never experienced for a long time.

---

Lune awoke to a feeling of intense pain all over his body. After blinking for a few minutes, he slowly stood up and took in his surroundings. It was daytime, and the bright sun shown on the deserted streets of Las Vegas. Or at least what was left of the streets. From where he was standing, a deep trench that stretched all the way to a faraway building cut through the entire road. At his end of the trench was the motionless body of Kit Vulpes. Erth was nowhere to be seen.

Lune staggered towards Kit, and then gazed down at him.
"He'll be fine. His wounds heal unusually quick."
Lune turned to find Meryl Advolin standing behind him. She swiftly strode up to Kit's body, and carried him in her arms.
"I came when I heard a large explosion. You guys were fighting for the entire night it seems. Although it is nice of you to worry about him."
"Hmph. I'm not worried. I could care less about what he does with his life."
Lune then grinned his creepy grin.
"After all, it seems like I've won this match. I am the last one standing, am I not?"
Meryl frowned for a moment. She then sighed.
"I guess you're right. And besides, you two are in no condition to fight anymore."
"I don't need your sympathy."

Meryl watched as Lune slowly and painfully staggered away into the distance.

---

Mr. T watched from the many screens of his hidden cameras. On one screen in particular, an old woman slowly carried a small fox-boy into the hospital reserved for injured contestants.
"Well, well, it seems that Mr. Vulpes is no longer in the tournament. How unfortunate."
He rose from his chair and grabbed his cane.
"It looks like I win the bet. Now it is time to face the consequences."
I'm sorry. I really didm't want to resort to text.
I'm also sorry for making such a crappy ending.

Also, I want to say in advance that Lune isn't Tsundere. He's just slowly becoming less creepy and heartless.
